The SSSC will be applying for NOAA Marine Debris Community Based Marine Debris cleanup funds and is soliciting interest by local vessels for remote beach cleanups throughout Southeast Alaska.  Interested contractors should respond to this request for proposals – costs and experience will be used to rank applicants for use in final proposal.  The SSSC is committed to hiring local contractors for cleanups.  Applicants should have extensive experience in navigating the area of interest.  Previous experience in marine debris cleanups is also a consideration in ranking.

Application does not guarantee a contract or funding.  If SSSC is awarded a grant, funds will be available for work beginning no earlier than July 2017.  Bids are due by Friday, September 2, 2016.

Contracts are self-contained (i.e. SSSC will not be providing crew or vessel support).  Work requires removal and categorization of marine debris with data keeping and photo documentation. Contact our Research Director, Victoria O’Connell at voconnell@sitkascience.org if you would like the specifications for submitting a bid.
