Emily Frank is the Aquarium Intern at the Sitka Sound Science Center.  The internship is her final step in acquiring her Associates Degree in Aquarium Science in June 2016.  Originally from Virginia, Emily has lived in Oregon for the past 8 years.  These last two years have been spent in Newport, Oregon in the Aquarium Science Program at Oregon Coast Community College.  Her time there has included working at a fish hatchery, tagging sharks, designing an aquarium exhibit, plumbing new aquarium systems and hanging out in tanks with stingrays.  Emily grew up with a love for the ocean and is excited to spend her internship caring for the animals at the Science Center and sharing her passion with others.  This is also Emily’s first time in Alaska and she is very excited to explore Sitka!  In her spare time, she likes to hike, camp, read, surf, and cuddle with her dog.
